Mission: To improve the quality of energy policy and dialogue through objective, balanced, and rigorous analysis
Vision: To be among the world’s most respected, trusted and influential sources of energy policy analysis
Making smart energy policy choices requires approaching energy as a complex and multifaceted system in which policymakers must balance economic, security and environmental priorities. Too often, the public debate is dominated by platitudes and polarization. The Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs seeks to enrich the quality of energy dialogue and policy by providing an independent and nonpartisan platform for timely analysis and recommendations to address today’s most pressing energy challenges.
To foster informed discussion and provide balanced analysis, the Center convenes energy leaders, produces policy-relevant research, and trains students to become the next generation of energy scholars, executives and policymakers. The Center leverages its location in New York City and proximity to financial markets, the investment and business community and policymakers to inform its work.
Based at one of the world’s great research universities, the Center combines academic research with the experience of senior energy experts from government, academia, industry and non- governmental organizations. The result is robust, accessible and actionable analysis, which the Center disseminates through public forums, research, roundtable discussions, conferences and the media. In addition to its ability to harness the world-class faculty of Columbia across many disciplines, the Center utilizes the University’s global reach through its physical centers in key energy countries including Brazil, Turkey, India and China.
Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy is Where the World Connects for Energy Policy.
