The Center on Global Energy Policy’s Women in Energy program is excited to invite you to tour the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). BNL is a multipurpose research institution funded primarily by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science. The Lab brings world-class facilities and expertise to the most exciting and important questions in basic and applied science—from the birth of our universe to the sustainable energy technology of tomorrow. You will tour the Northeast Solar Energy Research Center (NSERC), the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) and if possible, a third location which is still TBD. Requirements: This event is open only to current female grad students. Photo ID – Each visitor must show official photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport) at time of arrival to be admitted on site. International students must bring a passport as photo ID. Required Dress – For safety, all visitors must wear flat, fully-enclosed shoes and long pants. Please be respectful of the time the Brookhaven National Lab staff is taking out of their day to offer this tour of their facility. There is a minimum and maximum number of participants allowed. Therefore RSVP only if you can commit to attending the site visit. No-show’s will not be permitted to participate in WIE events through the end of the calendar year. If you RSVP and can no longer attend, please email me at least a week in advance. Transportation to and from the facility will provided. Pick-up & drop-off location: Center on Global Energy Policy – 1255 Amsterdam Ave. Pick-up time: 7:00 am Drop off time: We expect to be back on campus by 5:00pm at the very latest.
