Ariwoola Ogbemi is a Senior Advisor in Equinor’s International Exploration and Production business area, and an Adjunct Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy.
She has over 25 years’ experience in the energy industry spanning the oil and gas value chain, in locations across Nigeria, Norway and the US.
She has held several senior leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President for Equinor’s innovative Country Management Excellence unit, where she led the establishment of new country offices for Equinor, ensuring holistic risk management, compliance and best practice country management at Equinor’s offices around the world.
Prior to that Ariwoola served as Country Managing Director for Equinor in Nigeria, becoming the first Nigerian woman to lead an international oil and gas company in Nigeria.
Ariwoola’s broad experience spans strategy development and implementation, business development, leading complex organizations, driving change and improving business processes,. As a leader she has focused on developing future leaders, and promoting diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace.
Ariwoola Ogbemi is currently seconded from Equinor to Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy, serving as an Adjunct Senior Research Scholar. Here she is focused on the energy transition, energy markets, sustainability, and best practices in ESG.
Ariwoola Ogbemi holds a Masters of Business Administration from IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from The University of Lagos, Nigeria.
