Student Administrative Support Worker

DESCRIPTION

Student Administrative Support Workers for the Center on Global Energy Policy support the operations and administration of the department. Students assist staff members of the Communications, Development, Events, Finance & Administration, Publications, Women in Energy Program, Research and/or the Offices of the Founding and Executive Directors.

Responsibilities may include:

Event planning and execution, including set up, break down, organization, and maintenance of event spaces

Assist with marketing and outreach efforts Draft correspondence and newsletters; help prepare presentations and reports

Conduct background and/or prospect research; write briefing memos to summarize findings Data entry and data cleaning

Perform clerical duties, take meeting notes, maintain files, prepare and organize documents, photocopy, etc. as needed

Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must be enrolled as a Columbia University full or part-time Undergraduate or Graduate student

Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and willingness to be proactive

Excellent written communications skills, including the ability to develop briefings, PowerPoint presentations and master Excel to create effective graphs/charts

Comfortable interacting with a variety of stakeholders: students, faculty, university leadership, and high-level guests or speakers Knowledge of the energy-related topics covered by the Center is helpful but not required

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Student Administrative Support Worker positions are hourly with no mandated commitment. Students may work for 5-20 hours per week in the Fall and Spring semesters and 5-35 hours per week during the Summer semesters. Hourly wages start at $20 per hour. Student Administrative Support Worker positions are open to students with Federal Work Study awards.
