Clean Energy Finance: How to Raise Trillions

Past Event

September 24, 2019

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Clean energy industries must raise trillions of dollars in the decades ahead for the world to achieve the goals set forth in the Paris Agreement. What is the track record to date in raising capital for clean energy? What can be done to facilitate financing for clean energy industries in the United States and around the world? As world leaders convene in New York City for the UN Climate Summit, the Center on Global Energy Policy will host Ethan Zindler, Head of Americas at BloombergNEF; Sumant Sinha, Chairman and Managing Director of ReNew Power; and Sarah Davidson, Vice President, External Affairs, NY Green Bank on a panel moderated by David Sandalow, CGEP Inaugural Fellow and Co-Director, Energy and Environment, to explore financing challenges and opportunities in meeting the world’s climate goals. — Guests unable to attend in person can register to view a livestream of the event. This event is open to press. Media should register for this event. Media inquiries or requests for interviews should be directed to Artealia Gilliard ([email protected]) or Genna Morton ([email protected]). Please note: RSVP to this event does not guarantee entry. Climate of Contempt

Why is the United States struggling to enact policies to reduce carbon emissions? Conventional wisdom holds that the wealthy and powerful are to blame, as the oligarchs and corporations that wield disproportionate sway over politicians prioritize their short-term financial interests over the climate’s long-term health.
