CGEP is currently seeking Research Assistants to support our work relating to China Energy and Climate Policy.

The Research Assistants (RAs) will assist with research on various issues related to energy and environmental policy in China. A main task is to support the update of the Guide to Chinese Climate Policy (2019 version). Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing bi-weekly synthesis of news articles/government announcements on assigned chapter topics

  • Collecting relevant data and performing data analysis and visualization through Excel

  • Fact-checking citations in the reference list of the updated Guide to Chinese Climate Policy

  • Updating and maintaining the web portal of the Guide to Chinese Climate Policy

  • Translating relevant Chinese materials into English


  • Currently pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree at Columbia University. 

  • Highly motivated, engaged, and quickly responsive to work-related requests

  • Willing to contribute where needed across a range of responsibilities

  • Have the ability to work independently while incorporating continual feedback and guidance.


  • Excellent written communications skills, including ability to develop PowerPoint presentations and master Excel to create effective graphs/charts

  • Superior organizational skills and a high level of professional maturity


10-20 hours/week, positions start at $15.00
